The Life and Times of the Humble Sardine
2014, Crochet lace
These phenomenal crocheted lace panels tell the story of light becoming flesh becoming spirit as told through the eyes of the humble sardine. The first panel is phytoplankton photosynthesising light into matter. The second panel is a feeding frenzy of sardines eating plankton, turning matter into flesh. The third panel shows birds eating the sardines and returning to the skies, returning the spririt of the sardine to light. Each panel took over 450 hours to create. These panels will continue to be accessible to the public after the exhibition in the Glenelg Shire Council Collection.
